CO-PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE

It is with immense joy and gratitude that we step into the role of co-presidents of the Sri Lankan Graduates’ Society (SLGS) for the year 2024/25. We are privileged to lead a passionate team dedicated to celebrating and promoting our Sri Lankan heritage within the vibrant community at the University of Melbourne.

Our society thrives on the contributions of 16 enthusiastic committee members, each bringing unique talents and perspectives from various schools and faculties across UniMelb. Together, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where cultural pride and academic collaboration go hand in hand.

Through the events and activities we organise, we aim to showcase the beauty and richness of Sri Lankan culture, from traditional customs to modern expressions of art and unity. These moments of celebration allow us to connect with both Sri Lankan and international communities, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation for diversity.

At its heart, SLGS is more than a society—it is a home away from home for Sri Lankan students, staff, and alumni. We support each other through both challenges and successes, sharing friendships and unforgettable experiences that define our time at the University of Melbourne.

We warmly invite all Sri Lankan post-graduate students and staff to join us in strengthening this remarkable community. Let’s make 2024/25 a memorable year filled with collaboration, culture, and friendship!
